2022 Sport for All Conference

In September 2022, Sport for Humanity Chairman, David Eades, CEO/Executive Director, Philip Leopold and Director Emeritus Msgr. Melchor Sanchez, participated in the International Summit on Sport for All at the Vatican, in response to Pope Francis’ call regarding the social, educational and spiritual importance of Sports. In addition, SSH key advisors including Big East Commissioner Val Ackerman, LA84 CEO Renata Simril, Maccabi World Union’s Rabbi Carlos Tapiero and SSH Young Leader Gerald Mballe, completed the SSH delegation at the international summit.

The Sport for All Summit is a continuation of the exploration of the powerful partnership between Faith and Sport that began in 2016 when Sport at the Service of Humanity was launched at First Global Conference on Faith & Sport. Inclusion – one of Sport for Humanity’s 3 Pillars – was the primary theme of the Sport for All Summit.

His Holiness Pope Francis addressed the sport leaders and delegates at the conclusion of the Sport for All Summit. “The Church feels close to the world of Sport because she sees games and sporting activities as a place of personal encounter for people, a formation in virtue and fraternity.”
